Since the beginning of the year, the lines at all ticket sale sources for the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship have been kept busy with ever the same question: “When will individual tickets be available?” As of Friday, 10th March at 10:00 am they will finally be on sale: Server capacity for booking through the online ticket portal will be set to maximum capacity and additional lines will be made available for telephone ticket hotlines to meet the expected demand.
With the start of individual ticket pre-sales before mid-March, the World Championship Organizing Committee will adhere to its promise from the very beginning of offering individual tickets for all 64 World Championship games in early 2017 - even though the demand for day tickets, i.e. all games on a particular day, is still going strong.
Already about 450,000 tickets are indeed already gone by the sale of ticket packages only. “Thus, even prior to the start of game tickets sales, we have already taken a huge step towards our initial target of 600,000 spectators,” says Franz Reindl, President of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Organizing Committee, who is extremely pleased with how well pre-sales have gone so far and adds: “Already now, a great atmosphere is guaranteed in the arenas, and usually, the real rush for tickets is still to come with the individual game ticket sales.”
As expected, only a few tickets remain for certain games and days. This applies in particular to dates on which the German team is playing, but also for those days featuring the teams of Russia and Sweden, in Cologne. Some of the games in Paris are also already heading towards sell-out. Games in especially high demand there are those with host France, Switzerland, Canada, Finland and the Czech Republic.
With the start of individual ticket sales, the knockout games of the final round (from €49) will of course be highly sought-after. Two quarter-finals will be played in each Cologne and Paris. The semi-finals, as well as the gold and bronze medal games, will take place in Cologne.
Previous ticket bundles are still on offer, where still available, but now focus is on the individual tickets which will be available to purchase from €19. The following applies to all tickets and games still available for purchase: For as long as stocks last.
