Germany has to continue the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship on home ice without its NHL forward Tobias Rieder.

After a battle with a Russian player near the boards in the game on Monday afternoon and crushing into the boards with his lower body, German forward Tobias Rieder suffered a foot injury and had to leave the ice.

The player of the Arizona Coyotes was diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior syndesmotic ligament in his right foot this morning, which is likely to heal without a surgery. However, he will not be able to play at the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship anymore.
